A spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) confirmed six people had died and 16 were injured in the accident, which occurred near Dolan Springs, 365 kilometers (227 miles) northwest of Phoenix.
Several medical helicopters were at the scene of the crash, near the state border with Nevada and a short drive from Las Vegas.
KLAS television in Las Vegas reported the California-registered bus was carrying a Chinese tour group and was heading for the gambling mecca.
However AZDPS Lieutenant James Warrner was unable to confirm whether the passengers on the bus were foreign nationals, adding he did not know the bus's origin or destination.
