LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Marc Guggenheim, a showrunner on ABC's "FlashForward" and a writer on the film "Green Lantern," has been tapped to pen "Leonardo Da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever," the Warner Bros. project that recasts the original Renaissance man as an action hero.
Entertainment | Film | Arts
Warner is doubling down on Guggenhem, also hiring him to work on a draft of "Thieves of Baghdad," its "Ocean's 11"-meets-"Arabian Nights" project.
"Da Vinci," based on an original idea and treatment from Askarieh, reimagines Da Vinci as a member of a secret society. He falls headlong into a supernatural adventure that pits him against biblical demons in a story involving secret codes, lost civilizations, hidden fortresses and fallen angels. Think "National Treasure" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark" by way of "Clash of the Titans."
In "Baghdad," Sinbad, Ali Baba and all the greatest scoundrels from classic Arabian folk tales team up to pull off the biggest heist of their criminal careers.
Guggenheim co-created ABC's "Eli Stone" and was a showrunner with David Goyer on "FlashForward." Lately, he's been making a name for himself in the super-powered world. In addition to working on "Lantern," Guggenheim executive produced "No Ordinary Family," a highly regarded ABC pilot starring Michael Chiklis about a family that acquires unique abilities.
He also writes comics for Marvel and DC, and his "Resurrection" is set up as a film project at Universal.
