Jazz singer Jarreau leaves hospital in France
MARSEILLE, France - U.S. jazz singer Al Jarreau was discharged from hospital on Sunday after being treated for heart problems and plans to continue his European tour on Tuesday, hospital authorities in Marseille said. Jarreau, 70, collapsed during a concert in Barcelonnette in southeast France on July 22 and was admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.
Second woman sues Casey Affleck for harassment
LOS ANGELES - Another female worker on Casey Affleck's upcoming Joaquin Phoenix documentary is suing the filmmaker/actor, this time claiming Affleck climbed into bed with her and groped her as she slept. In a $2.25 million lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, cinematographer Magdalena Gorka says Affleck engaged in a pattern of harassing behavior and refused to pay or credit her when the abuse forced her to leave the project. The allegations mirror a separate lawsuit filed July 23 by Amanda White, a producer who says she left the movie after witnessing shocking behavior and after refusing to sleep in a hotel room with Affleck.
"Jersey Shore" star Snooki arrested
NEW YORK - President Barack Obama has not heard of Snooki, but New Jersey police certainly have after arresting the "Jersey Shore" reality TV star on Friday, on a charge of disorderly conduct. Snooki, whose real name is Nicole Polizzi, 22, was arrested in Seaside Heights on the New Jersey shore while filming the hit TV series, and she was later released from custody with a summons to appear in court, police said.
"The Office" to continue without Steve Carell
LOS ANGELES - Actor Steve Carell is resigning his job at "The Office," but that won't mean the end of the Emmy-award winning TV comedy show, NBC said on Friday. NBC entertainment programing chief Angela Bromstad told TV reporters that Carell's decision to quit as the egotistical boss Michael Scott in May 2011 had been known for some time to the network and the show's writers.
Kings of Leon moves past "Pigeon-gate"
DETROIT - Kings of Leon's Nathan Followill is confident that organizers of the upcoming Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco will keep stray pigeons as far away from the stage as possible. But, the drummer notes, "we're bringing a couple of muzzle loaders, just in case." He's kidding, of course. But while answering questions about the infestation of defecating pigeons that forced the cancellation of the band's July 23 show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Mo., Followill told Billboard.com that the incident turned into a much bigger story than the band had anticipated.

Teen stars align for "Camp Rock 2" soundtrack
NEW YORK - Before Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers once again invade tween TVs with "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam," fans of the Disney franchise can sing along with the "Camp Rock 2" soundtrack, due August 10. With the follow-up to the 2008 musical set to premiere September 3, the soundtrack aims to unveil its 14 tunes through a mix of radio airplay and heavy touring.
"Law & Order" TV show fails to find a new network
LOS ANGELES - "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf said on Friday that his TV crime drama had "moved into the history books" after failing to find a new network following its cancellation by NBC after 20 years on the air. "I can confirm that it has moved into the history books," Wolf told TV writers at a conference in Los Angeles. Wolf had said earlier this year he hoped another network would continue to produce the series.
Disney to sell Miramax for more than $660 million
LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK - Walt Disney Co has struck a deal to sell Miramax, the studio behind such films as "Trainspotting" and "No Country for Old Men," for more than $660 million to a group that includes construction magnate Ron Tutor and investment firm Colony Capital LLC. The deal marks the culmination of a drawn-out sale that attracted star-studded bidders, including the Weinstein brothers, who founded the studio.
