ADVERTISEMENT Facebook said it is searching for someone "with public company experience" to replace Yu, who left a similar job at YouTube to become Facebook CFO in 2007. Microsoft bought a 1.6 percent stake in Facebook for 240 million dollars in 2007, but the California-based social-networking star remains a privately-held firm that has yet to turn a profit. Facebook chief operating officer Mark Zuckerberg has said in recent interviews that the company is focused on growth, not revenue. "We are grateful to Gideon for his contributions to Facebook and what we are trying to accomplish," Facebook said in an email response to an AFP inquiry. "Despite the poor economic climate, we are pleased that our financial performance is strong and we are well positioned for the next stage of our growth." The list of Facebook executives that have left the firm in the past year includes former chief technical officer Adam D'Angelo and Dustin Moskovitz, who co-founded the company with then-college-roommate Zuckerberg in 2004. Former chief operating officer Owen Van Natta also quit Facebook last year.
