Ltd. has opened two parking lots with solar panel roofs to charge bicycles powered by its eneloop lithium-ion batteries. The solar parking lots located at the Tokushima Prefectural Government Office and near commuter train lines in Tokyo's Setagaya ward west of downtown Tokyo can charge 100 eneloop bikes even at night or on rainy days, according to Sanyo. An eneloop bike takes 3.5 hours to recharge. Stored power also lights up the parking lot at night. Sanyo said Tuesday it built the parking lots to have a clean system of recharging electric bikes.
