Action was also due to get under way in the third host nation, Sri Lanka, where the Canadian coach spiced up the Group A clash against the home team by accusing Sri Lanka of damaging their practice sessions. On the pitch, minnows Kenya were dismissed for a paltry 69 with paceman Hamish Bennett taking four wickets for 16 runs as the African nation, semi-finalists in 2003, looked out of their depth in front of a sparse crowd. World Cup favourites India fired out an ominous warning to their rivals on Saturday in Dhaka, piling up 370-4, the fifth highest World Cup total, with Virender Sehwag plundering 175 in a devastating show of power. The 87-run victory was sweet revenge for India, who slumped to a shock five-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the Caribbean in 2007, a result that contributed towards their humiliating first round exit. "Double V for India" was the Times of India's response to the victory in recognition of Sehwag's contribution as well as Virat Kohli's unbeaten century. Sehwag said the emphatic victory, which followed two impressive wins over reigning champions Australia and New Zealand in warm-up matches last week, had given India vital momentum and was a "revenge game". "It is so important to have momentum going your way," the aggressive opener said. "If you don't have it, you tend to lose matches a lot more. "We have been very consistent in the three games we have played so far and this will help us play better as the tournament goes on. It's been really good so far." Sehwag, 32, narrowly missed his aim to bat out the full 50 overs, just as his team-mate Sachin Tendulkar had done last year while scoring the first-ever 200 in one-day cricket. But he equalled former Indian skipper Kapil Dev's score of 175 not out in the 1983 World Cup, which India won. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was confident his team would bounce back after the heart-breaking loss, but urged his bowlers to shape up. Shakib blamed his bowlers for allowing India to run riot with the bat, but justified his decision to give the power-packed rivals first strike at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium. "I thought we had a better chance of winning the game by chasing," he said. "If we could have had early wickets, it would have been a different game. That was our plan. "But our fast bowlers could not execute those plans. That was our main problem and I thought that cost us the game." Ahead of their clash in Sri Lanka at the new Hambantota stadium, Canadian coach Pubudu Dassanayake complained that his team's preparations had been hit. "Our preparations were hurt big time by the non-cooperation on Friday and Saturday and we have briefed our cricket board back home to deal with this matter," Dassanayake told AFP. "Sri Lanka is my own country and I always admire their cricket but there was total non-cooperation on the first day when we reached the stadium for practice and had to wait for two hours because the Sri Lankan team was practising," he added. "When we finally entered the ground at 6:00 pm they asked us to leave after just 45 minutes and took the nets off. The worst part was that no one took responsibility for what happened to us." The problems continued on Saturday, said the Canadian coach.
