The launch last week coincided with the North's threat to mount an all-out offensive against the South after it rejected South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's invitation for North Korean leader Kim Jong-il to visit Seoul next year. "North Korea fired a short range KN-06 missile mid-last week off the west coast in North Phyongan province," Yonhap quoted the source as saying. "The launch was intended to test modifications to short-range missiles," the source was quoted as saying, adding it appeared unrelated to the North's recent threats.
