ShareThis May 31, 2010 1:35 p.m. EST Topics: science and technology, company information, new product, economy, business and finance, electronics, United States Mitchell Jaworski - AHN News Reporter Cupertino, CA, United States (AHN) - Apple Inc. announced Monday that sales of its new iPad have topped the 2 million mark since the product launched a little less than two months ago. Apple began offering the iPad in the U.S. on April 3. Due to such strong demand domestically, the company decided to delay its international release. As of this weekend the product is available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany and several other foreign countries. The expansion to international markets will likely give iPad sales another jolt in the coming months. “Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.” According to Apple’s statement, more than 5,000 new apps have been created for the iPad by developers thus far. The company said iPad is also capable of running nearly all of the 200,000 apps available at its App Store. The basic iPad model sells for $499 in the U.S. Copyright © 2003 - 2010 AHN - All rights reserved.Redistribution, republication. syndication, rewriting or broadcast is prohibited without the prior written consent of AHN.License AHN news for your website, business, digital signage network or publication.
