Now, parents organizations or calling for a federal investigation, saying MTV could be in violation of child pornography. Those are some serious charges for the show which just premiered this week, airing after a special episode of “Jersey Shore.” But the show, which is rated TV-MA and considered unsuitable for audiences under 17, employs actors as young as 15. According to TMZ, the Parents Television Council sent off a letter to the U.S Department of Justice and the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees, raising concerns that the show uses underage actors in graphic sexual situations. "In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode,” the Parents Television Council noted. The New York Times even reported that MTV itself is concerned about violating child pornography laws. "It is clear that Viacom has knowingly produced material that may well be in violation of [anti-child pornography laws],” the PTC added. MTV hasn’t commented on the issue just yet but execs are reportedly already discussing the issues. “Skins,” meanwhile, hasn’t been pulled off the air but instead will be on repeat all throughout the weekend, although no earlier than 10pm.
