Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley shine at the CMAs
NASHVILLE - Brad Paisley claimed the top prize of entertainer of the year at the Country Music Awards on Wednesday, but it was Miranda Lambert who was the big winner with three honors including best female vocalist and album of the year for "Revolution." Lambert, who turned 27 years-old on what is billed as country music's biggest night, topped off a banner 2010 in which she became engaged to singer Blake Shelton, also was a victor at the CMAs with the award for best male vocalist.
Harry Potter 7 premieres, eyes box office magic
LONDON - The seventh and penultimate Harry Potter movie has its world premiere in London on Thursday, with another big pay day virtually guaranteed for studio Warner Bros. despite its failure to get a 3-D version ready in time. Young British stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who play Harry, Hermione and Ron respectively in the wizard series, are expected on the red carpet for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" due in theatres on November 19.
"Conan" loses one-third of TV audience on 2nd night
LOS ANGELES - Audiences for Conan O'Brien's much-hyped new TV talk show dropped by one-third on his second night out and some critics began to tire of jokes about his bitter departure from rival NBC. Some 2.8 million people watched Tuesday night's "Conan," down from 4.2 million viewers for the red-haired comedian's debut on TBS one night earlier, the cable network said on Wednesday.
Lou Dobbs to join Fox Business Network
LOS ANGELES - Former CNN news anchor Lou Dobbs has joined the Fox Business Network and will host and develop a daily television show starting in 2011, Fox said on Wednesday. Dobbs, 65, also will appear on a variety of other Fox Business Network programs as an analyst and commentator on the financial news of the day.
Demi Lovato not being treated for drugs: spokesman
LOS ANGELES - A spokesman for troubled teen idol Demi Lovato on Wednesday denied the Disney actress was being treated for drug or alcohol addiction, following sensational claims in the media that she had a history of heavy drinking and cocaine use. The cocaine claims came from some celebrity publications a week after Lovato, 18, pulled out of a concert tour and went into rehab for what were described as long-standing "emotional and physical issues".
West, Bush and "Today" show spar over "racist" remark
LOS ANGELES - Rapper Kanye West on Wednesday complained of being misused in a new TV interview during which he pulled back from a 2005 comment he made that characterized former President George W. Bush as a racist. But the outspoken rapper, who is known for his socially-conscious lyrics, did not say he was misquoted when the "Today" morning chat show interviewed him. Instead, in a series of Twitter messages, he said the program's co-host Matt Lauer had "tried to force my answers" to questions.

Katy Perry, Justin Bieber to perform at Grammy nominations
NEW YORK - Katy Perry and Justin Bieber will perform at a show to announce the Grammy nominations, organizers for the top music awards said on Wednesday. The 16-year-old Bieber and Perry, whose song "California Gurls" has been among the top U.S. pop hits of the year, will be joined on stage by country singer Miranda Lambert, rapper B.o.B and singer-songwriter Bruno Mars. B.o.B and Mars collaborated together this year for the single, "Nothin' On You."
Hugh Hefner goes Willy Wonka for December Playboy
LOS ANGELES - Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has been called many things over the years, but a modern-day Willy Wonka may not be one of them. That is about to change. This Friday, tucked within the pages of some 200,000 Playboy magazines on U.S. newsstands will be 10 "Golden Tickets" to the Midsummer Night's Dream Party thrown by the pajama-clad playboy known to millions of readers as "Hef."
Chris Pine is "Unstoppable" in post-"Star Trek" film
LOS ANGELES - Last year, up-and-coming actor Chris Pine was transported to a new frontier, professionally, when he played the leading role of a young Captain Kirk in the blockbuster feature film, "Star Trek." Now in his first movie since becoming a much sought-after Hollywood commodity, Pine has chosen to star opposite a high speed train in filmmaker Tony Scott's adrenaline-fueled flick, "Unstoppable."
