Seoul shares extend gains, up 4 percent

SEOUL, Oct 31 - Seoul shares rose 4 percent in afternoon trading on Friday after falling as much as 2 percent, led by industrials including POSCO <005490.KS> and Hyundai Heavy Industries <009540.KS>.
Shares in POSCO were trading 8.38 percent higher and Hyundai Heavy was up 12.06 percent despite its weaker-than-expected quarterly earnings reported late Thursday.
The Korea Composite Stock Price Index was up 4.54 percent at 1,133.94 points as of 0430 GMT, extending the previous session's record 12 percent rally.
