The Korea Composite Stock Price Index <.KS11> finished down 0.14 percent at 1,691.48 points. "News that countries participating in the G20 sort of agreed to push back exit strategies boosted market sentiment significantly," said Kim Young-june, a market analyst at SK Securities. "Markets had fallen after the U.S. Fed's comments on mortgage debt buying, which had prompted worries about earlier-than-expected exit strategies. But the G20 news relieved markets," said Y.S. Rhoo, a market analyst at Hyundai Securities. "We should not attach too much meaning to the G20 pledge. Every country has different definitions of exit strategy, and the degree of stimulus also differs," Kim at SK Securities added. World leaders participating the G20 summit pledged to keep emergency economic supports in place until a durable recovery is secured, and to work together when the time comes to remove them, according to a draft communique obtained by Reuters on Friday. [ID:nSUM000113] Foreign investors were net sellers for a second consecutive session, offloading a net 144.4 billion won , and institutions sold a net 283.8 billion won, shedding stocks for a seventh session. Shares in Hynix Semiconductor <000660.KS> tumbled 8.01 percent on market talk the sale of a stake held by its creditors including Korea Exchange Bank <004940.KS> could be worth less than earlier expected. Talk that the stake sale could be discounted to as low as 3 trillion won from the 4 trillion won earlier expected was pressuring Hynix stocks, analysts said. Share in Hyosung Corp <004800.KS>, which leads Hyosung Group, fell 8 percent after briefly turning positive earlier in the session. Hyosung Group was the only bidder in the preliminary round to buy the Hynix stake. But automakers outperformed amid brewing hopes for third quarter earnings and new models. "Hyundai and Kia's output rate has steadily been improving and we expect that would help them post stronger-than-expected numbers for the third quarter," said Ko Tae-bong, an analyst at IBK Securities. "Also there are hopes for Hyundai's new Sonata YF model, which is said to have a superior design," Ko said, adding that markets were optimistic about the model's U.S. sales. Shares in Hyundai Motor <005380.KS> ended up 4.52 percent and Kia Motors <000270.KS> rose 3.78 percent. POSCO <005490.KS> fell 2.29 percent to 490,500 won after HSBC on Friday downgraded its rating on the world's No.6 steelmaker to "Neutral" from "Overweight" but maintained its target price at 515,000 won .
