Car bomb in Baghdad kills eight
AFP - 1 hour 7 minutes ago
BAGHDAD (AFP) - - A massive car bomb attack near a bus station in a Shiite neighbourhood of Baghdad on Saturday killed at least eight civilians and wounded 22, an interior ministry official told AFP.
The blast, which echoed for kilometres (miles) across the beleauguered Iraqi capital, occurred in the western neighbourhood of Kadhimiyah, the official said.
"Eight civilians were killed and 22 were injured in the explosion," he said.
On Thursday, a bomb in Kadhimiyah killed one Iraqi and injured 11 others, including three policemen.
The level of violence in Baghdad has dropped in recent months but insurgents still seem able to strike at will despite the tight security measures in capital of seven million.
