Dr Ong, who passed away last year, was the former adviser to the Bukit Batok GRC grassroots organisations. He had helped to raise S$1.5 million for the community club. In addition to that, the event saw the launch of a coffee table book on Bukit Batok called "Our Home on the Hill" — a project that was also initiated by the late Dr Ong. Every household in Bukit Batok will receive a copy of the book. Minister for Prime Minister’s Office and MP for Jurong GRC Lim Boon Heng said: "The book covers his work in Bukit Batok, the grassroots organisations, the grassroots leaders, amenities, facilities and many aspects of the community. "This will give residents a sense of how things have improved in their community over the years. I hope it will encourage more residents to come forward to serve in the grassroots organisations.
