(Reuters News welcomes your feedback and for any queries please contact Chris Allbritton in Islamabad editorial on +92-51 281 0017 or via email at chris.allbritton@thomsonreuters.com or on Reuters messaging chris.allbritton.reuters.com@reuters.net) WHAT IS HAPPENING IN PAKISTAN, ALL TIMES LOCAL FOLLOWED BY GMT: * The National Fertiliser Development Centre is due to release the fertiliser data for May on Wednesday or soon after. (The inclusion of diary items does not necessarily mean that Reuters will cover the event) MARKET SNAPSHOTS * The Pakistani rupee <PKR=> ended firmer at 85.36/41 to the dollar on Tuesday, compared with 85.45/50 a day earlier. * The KSE benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> rose 0.32 percent, or 31.01 points, to end at 9,682.32 on Tuesday. The KSE-index made its intra-day high at 9,786.06 points. Volume was 83.21 million shares, compared with 66.95 million shares traded on Monday. [.KA] * The net inflow of foreign portfolio investment in the stock market was $5.89 million on Tuesday. * U.S. stocks fell more than 1 percent in yet another late-day selloff on Tuesday as unexpectedly poor housing figures and the puncture of a key technical level sapped buying interest. The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 148.96 points, or 1.43 percent, to 10,293.45. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 17.86 points, or 1.60 percent, to 1,095.34. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> lost 27.29 points, or 1.19 percent, to 2,261.80. [.N] * Oil prices fell for a second day on Wednesday after an industry report showed unexpected gains in U.S. crude and gasoline inventories, while weak U.S. home sales data sent equities lower and dampened risk appetite. U.S. crude for August delivery <CLc1> slid 29 cents to $77.56 a barrel at 0237 GMT, after the July contract expired on Thursday. Prices are little changed this week after a jump to almost $79 two days ago following China's weekend decision to increase the flexibility of the yuan's exchange rate. [O/R] * Gold edged up on Wednesday, tracking an increase in ETF holdings as investors sought a safe haven from sliding stock markets and worries about the pace of global economic recovery. Spot gold <XAU=> added $1.20 to $1,240.20 an ounce by 0254 GMT after hitting an intraday high of $1,241.25 -- still below Monday's record around $1,264. Gold has gained as much as 15 percent in 2010, mainly due to fears the sovereign debt crisis in Europe would spread.
