Lady Gaga says has finished new album

LONDON - U.S. pop star Lady Gaga has finished her new album, after her debut "The Fame" topped charts around the world. The 24-year-old, known for her flamboyant costumes as much as her records, plans to release the album early next year, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

Slipknot bassist died of "accidental" overdose

LOS ANGELES - The bassist for the Grammy-winning metal band Slipknot died of an "accidental" overdose of morphine and fentanyl, a synthetic morphine substitute, police in Iowa said on Monday as autopsy results were released. Paul Gray, 38, was found dead on May 25 at a hotel near Des Moines, Iowa, the hometown of the band who always appear in public in grotesque masks, beat each other up on stage and call their fans "maggots." Gray co-founded the band in 1995.

Actor Orlando Bloom to marry Australian model Miranda Kerr

SYDNEY - Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr is set to marry her Hollywood leading man, Orlando Bloom, the couple's publicists told media on Tuesday. Kerr, 27, who shot to international fame as a Victoria's Secret lingerie model, and Bloom, 33, star of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Lord of the Rings" movies, began dating in 2007 and have frequently denied rumors of an impending wedding.

Troubled "Footloose" movie remake gets cast together

LOS ANGELES - The troubled remake of the 1984 classic movie musical "Footloose" has finally got its cast together, and chosen an unknown dancer to play the lead role made famous by Kevin Bacon. Paramount Pictures said on Tuesday that Kenny Wormald, 25, who appeared in the MTV series "Dancelife" will play the role of Ren, a rebellious teen who shakes up a small town.

Uruguayan singer Jaime Roos ponders vuvuzela song

RUSTENBURG, South Africa is as well known throughout Latin America as the aging performer, but ahead of his country's 1-0 World Cup win over Mexico on Tuesday he told Reuters he is not done yet.

Anniversary of Jackson death seen passing quietly

LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson's mother said she hopes the world will continue to remember the "Thriller" singer, as fans waited on Monday to hear if they will be able to mark the first anniversary of his death by visiting the cemetery where is buried. The Los Angeles-area Forest Lawn cemetery said it hoped to announce plans later on Monday for possible visits to the site. Media reports earlier this month said discussions were underway that could give fans limited access over the weekend.

Johnny Depp off for more adventures in "Pirates"

LOS ANGELES - In the next "Pirates of the Caribbean," Johnny Depp's seafaring character Jack Sparrow will face a woman from his past and board another buccaneer's ship, the studio behind the film said on Monday. The Walt Disney Co revealed those story elements for the new film as it announced that production has started.

HBO renews "True Blood" for Season 4

LOS ANGELES - HBO has renewed "True Blood" for a fourth season, beginning next year. As with Season 3, it ordered 12 episodes. Though ratings for Sunday's episode are not yet available, last week's third-season premiere drew 5.1 million viewers -- up 38% from the Season 2 opener.

"American Idol" accepts 15 year-olds, no word on new judge

LOS ANGELES - "American Idol" producers on Monday lowered the age limit for contestants to 15, but there was still no word on a new judge to replace Simon Cowell as auditions were announced for next month. Fox television said auditions for season 10 would be held in six U.S. cities, beginning in Nashville, Tennessee, July 17. Producers of the TV singing contest, whose ratings have slid, said the minimum age this season would be 15 instead of 16.

Hollywood faces new piracy threat

AMSTERDAM - Movie fans downloading free pirated films are no longer Hollywood's worst nightmare, but that's only because of a newer menace: cheap, and equally illegal, subscription services. Foreign, often mob-run, businesses aggregate illegally obtained movies into "cyberlockers" similar to Internet storage sites used by individual consumers to squirrel away pirated video. But the for-profit version of this phenomenon has spawned an array of sophisticated and seemingly reputable sites selling unlimited digital movie files for as little as $5 a month.
