A statement says the Marine with the Multi-National Division-West died Saturday.
The Marine's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The military says the incident is under investigation.
The death raises the number of U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq to at least 4,253 since the war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
