MARKET SNAPSHOTS * The rupee <PKR=> weakened to 84.50/57 to the dollar on Friday, compared with Thursday's close of 84.40/47 to the dollar because of import payments. [PKR/] * Stocks ended on a two-and-a-half month low on Friday following a sell-off in regional markets and thin trading by cautious investors, dealers said. The Karachi Stock Exchange's benchmark 100-share index <.KSE> fell 1.22 percent, or 122.24 points, to 9,871.16 points on turnover of 74.73 million shares. [.KA] * The net outflow of foreign portfolio investment in the stock market was $38,142 on Friday. [http://www.nccpl.com.pk/fipi-new/index.php] * U.S. stocks snapped a three-day losing streak on Friday as investors bought beaten-down shares including banks on bets the financial regulation bill won't be as onerous as some had feared. The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 125.38 points, or 1.25 percent, to 10,193.39. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> jumped 16.10 points, or 1.50 percent, to 1,087.69. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> rose 25.03 points, or 1.14 percent, to 2,229.04. [.N] * Oil prices snapped three straight sessions of decline and rose slightly to hover above $70 a barrel on Monday, but analysts said sentiment remain fragile and prices could be again be hit by macroeconomic pessimism. U.S. crude for July delivery <CLc1> rose 27 cents to $70.31 a barrel by 0238 GMT. London Brent crude <LCOc1> fell 47 cents to $71.21. [O/R] * Gold edged higher on Monday after falling for five straight sessions, with investors attracted by the precious metal in the face of remaining uncertainty over the global economy.
