By Stephanie Prange

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "The Haunting in Connecticut" scared up a top-spot debut on the DVD sales chart, while "Knowing" got another look at No. 1 on the rental chart for the week ended July 19.

Lionsgate's horror film "Haunting," which earned $55 million at the box office, loomed at No. 1 on Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert sales chart, pushing "Knowing" to No. 2. But Summit Entertainment's Nicolas Cage sci-fi thriller "Knowing," which earned $80 million theatrically, topped Home Media Magazine's rental chart for the second consecutive week, keeping "Haunting" at bay in the second spot.

The weekly tallies pushed Summit's "Push" down a notch to No. 3 on both charts its second week in stores.

The only other new releases to make the top 10 for the week were Lionsgate's "Horsemen," a direct-to-video serial-killer thriller starring Dennis Quaid, and the TV DVD release "Mad Men -- Season 2." "Horsemen" placed at No. 5 on the rental chart, and the second season of "Mad Men" took fifth place on the sales chart.

"Haunting" was also the week's top Blu-ray Disc seller, with "Knowing" dropping to No. 2 and "Mad Men -- Season 2" debuting at No. 3.

The Harry Potter effect hit the sales charts for the week as the newest installment in the movie series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," debuted in theaters July 15.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" placed at Nos. 6 and 10, respectively, on the sales chart. "Order" also took No. 6 on the Blu-ray sales chart, with a five-movie Potter collection at No. 10, "Goblet" at No. 11, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" at No. 15, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" at No. 19 and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" at No. 20.
