Chilean film wins top award at Iberian-American film fest
AFP - 2 hours 21 minutes ago
MADRID (AFP) - - Chilean director Andres Wood's "La Buena Vida" ("The Good Life"), a story about life in Santiago, Saturday won the top award at the 34th Iberian-American film festival in the southern Spanish town of Huelva, the organisers said.
The Special Jury Prize went to Argentine film "Lluvia" ("Rain") by Paula Hernandez, while the jury gave the Best Director award to Mexican Alan Jonsson Gavica's for his debut feature "Morenita.".
Juan Luis Galiardo was named best actor for his role in the Spanish film "Esperpentos," and Valeria Bertuccelli won the best actress award for her part in "Lluvia."
The award for "best first film" went to Mexico's Enrique Rivero for "Parque Via", which also won the top prize at this year's Locarno Film Festival.
"La Buena Vida", which won the Colon de Oro award, tells the story of four people whose lives cross in the Chilean capital Santiago.
Wood said the Huelva festival has been "very important because it shows the film outside the country.
"The borders between Latin America and Spain have not been crossed" in terms of film distribution, he said.
