ShareThis May 3, 2010 3:43 p.m. EST Topics: homicide, crime, crime, law and justice, United States Hansen Sinclair - AHN News Reporter Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) - Authorities have arrested a woman tied to the murder of a popular District of Columbia school principal, according to reports Monday. The woman was arrested on two counts of credit card misuse in connection with the killing of Brian Betts, reported Capt. Paul Starks of the Montgomery County, MD, police department. The arrest was made two days after a memorial was held for the 42-year-old D.C.-area Shaw Middle School principal. Betts was found April 15 shot to death in his Silver Spring home. The 46-year-old suspect was arrested Monday morning and is in custody in Washington, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. The identity of the woman was not disclosed. The department said more arrests were expected as there are two search warrants being served at other Washington locations. Physical evidence–the house was not ransacked; the door was closed but unlocked–led police to believe the murder was not a random act. Reports stated Betts was alive until at least April 13 around 11:30 p.m. On April 16, two unknown men were spotted exiting Betts’ SUV in D.C.
