South Korea won advances as stocks, euro bounce

SEOUL, Dec 2 - The South Korean won opened higher on Thursday, reflecting increased appetite for risky assets following the euro' rally on speculation the region's debt crisis may abate with bold steps by the European Central Bank.
The won <KRW=> was quoted at 1,146.3 per dollar as of 0007 GMT, versus Wednesday's domestic close at 1,151.4.
Seoul shares <.KS11> advanced 0.8 percent to 1,944.57 with support from foreign investors' buying, which briefly pushed the benchmark stock index to its strongest level in more than a week.
South Korea's economy grew a seasonally adjusted 0.7 percent in the third quarter from three months earlier, the same as previously estimated. revised central bank data showed. [ID:nSUL000205] [ID:nTOE6AT06D]
Foreign exchange reserves held by Asia's fourth-largest economy fell by $3.12 billion to $290.23 billion at the end of November from $293.35 billion a month before, the Bank of Korea said in a statement.
