Guns n' Roses just miss out on top spot in British charts

LONDON (AFP) - - Las Vegas rockers The Killers beat the eagerly awaited new Guns'n'Roses album "Chinese Democracy" to the top spot in Britain's album charts Sunday.
The Killers came straight in at number one with "Day & Age", pushing Guns n' Roses first collection of original material for 17 years into number two a week after its release.
Elsewhere, Kanye West's new album, "808s & Heartbreak", went straight in at number 11, while Coldplay's "Prospekt's March" went in at number 38.
Welsh singer Rhydian, who made a name for himself on last year's X-Factor television programme, came in at number three with his eponymous album, pushing another TV talent show success story, Leona Lewis, to four with "Spirit".
Real-life reverends Priests jumped in at number five a week after the release of their album "The Priests", a collection of church music.
At number six were Stereophonics with their "Best Of -- Decade in the Sun", followed by the Kings of Leon's "Only by the Night".
Pink was at number eight with "Funhouse", followed by Girls Aloud with "Out of Control" and classical crooners Il Divo with "The Promise" on ten.
