LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Up and coming rap artist Dolla was shot in the head and killed outside a Los Angeles shopping mall in a crime with no immediate motive, police said.

Dolla, 21, whose song "Feelin' Myself" was featured in the 2006 dance movie "Step Up", was shot on Monday while standing with another recording artist, D.J. Shabbazz, after a shopping trip, said publicist, Sue Vannasing.

The gunman drove away and police later arrested a 23 year-old man at Los Angeles International Airport.

Vannasing said Dolla, an Atlanta rapper whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, had earlier been involved in an argument with a passenger on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police had no immediate motive for the killing, one of several gun crimes a day in the United States' second largest city.
