BEIJING (Reuters) - China denounced the United States on Tuesday for imposing its own sanctions on Iran, saying Washington should not unilaterally take such steps outside of U.N. resolutions.
Last week, President Barack Obama signed into law far-reaching new sanctions on Iran that aim to squeeze the Islamic Republic's fuel imports and deepen its international isolation.
"China has already noted that the United States and other parties have unilaterally put in place further sanctions against Iran," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told a news briefing in Beijing.
"Not long ago, the U.N. Security Council approved resolution 1929," Qin said, referring to sanctions placed on Iran last month. "China believes that the Security Council resolution should fully, seriously and correctly be enforced and cannot be wilfully elaborated on to expand Security Council sanctions measures."
The U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate approved the new sanctions bill that penalizes companies supplying Iran with gasoline as well as international banks involved with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
It came after the U.N. Security Council passed a resolution toughening sanctions on Iran over its refusal to stop enriching uranium.
Iran insists its nuclear programme is for the peaceful generation of electricity but the United States and other powers suspect it is a cover to build an atomic bomb.
Qin repeated that China believed talks were the best way to resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear activities.
Iran is a major supplier of crude to China, the world's second-biggest consumer of oil after the United States, providing over 10 percent of imports last year.
Dominated by energy shipments, bilateral trade has grown from around $10 billion in 2005 to more than $20 billion last year.

if china would not have pulled all the teeth out of un sanctions then we would not have to go unilateral, china is not a friend to the us and we need to wake up to this fact, refuse to buy chinese goods, though this is easier said then done it is possible

The USA are the bullies of this world. Thank God for China. Atleast they exhibit an objective response: Observe UN Resolutions. They have every right to question the typical unilateral response of the US and their decision to extend the scope of anything to do with Iran.
The USA is the poodle of Israel. Israel wishes to destabilise the Middle East. The US do as they are told by their handler.
Refuse to buy anything from the merrykins.

Of course we cannot count on China to do the responsible thing. Instead, all they do thwart the UN by harboring nations like N Korea, Iran, Sudan, Burma, etc.
If China would not undermine the current UN sanctions against Iran and N Korea, then maybe these two nations would starty to act responsibly.
China is going behind the UN’s back by supplying both Iran and N Korea with the services and goods that are forbidden in the sanctions. How can china expect the world to take china seriously as a “responsible power” when all china does is undermine the UN.
It’s time for the world to wake up and realize that china is the greatest threat to world peace!

The only Powers that can’t be trusted are the USA and all its puppets. China is the only Power who doesn’t bend or break to US pressure as Russia did. Thank GOD there is a just, reasonable and honest Power out there as is China. Stand up for whats right not for whats might!
The cowards of Europe such as Germany, France, Russia are all puppets of the US, and the US is the puppet of Israel.
None of these countries can be trusted and never have they used any common sense or logic when it comes to decision making. All they do is wait for the US to make a decision and they all follow, like the sheep they are.

It should be noted that while you may think the USA is being a bully, look closer at China and you will see that they torture and murder anybody within China that disagrees with the government. They willfully exploit their own citizens and they continue to prop up states that export terrorism aka Sudan, North Korea, both of these states torture, maim and murder any citizen they choose without bias. Iran is no better. When you point your finger, 3 fingers are pointing back at you!

In 21st century this is harbinger of what tolls for US in global politics – going forward. Mainland China will not be able to tolerate unilateral actions by US/EU outside UNSC.
As a sovereign creditor of US Treasury whatever leverage US/EU had in 20th century will be more like the story of *decline an fall of (empires)* . While mainland China will emerge has the new but more just bully!
