Winslet plans acceptance speech for BAFTAs
AFP - 1 hour 1 minute ago
LONDON (AFP) - - Actress Kate Winslet acknowledged she would have to compose a speech for the BAFTA Awards next month, after her emotional acceptance at the Golden Globes.
Winslet, nominated twice in the Best Actress category at the British Academy Film Awards, had to apologise to the audience during her gushing acceptance speech at the Golden Globes this month, when she picked up two gongs.
"Well, clearly, I should prepare a speech because I didn't think that was going to happen at the Golden Globes," the 33-year-old said of her Golden Globes success, at the London premiere of "Revolutionary Road".
"Some people apparently haven't been very nice about it, but luckily I've been in America where they've said very nice things."
In addition to her BAFTA nomination for "Revolutionary Road", Winslet was also short-listed for her performance in "The Reader". She previously won a Best Supporting Actress BAFTA in 1995 for "Sense and Sensibility".
The BAFTAs are Britain's leading film and television awards and the ceremony will take place on February 8.
