Hurricane Paloma now a Category Two storm

MIAMI (AFP) - - Hurricane Paloma, currently lashing the Cayman islands, has strengthened to become a Category Two storm with maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers (105 miles) per hour, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) here said.
At 4:00 pm (2100 gmt) Paloma's center was 70 kilometers (40 miles) south of Grand Cayman and about 465 kilometers (290 miles) southwest of Camaguey, Cuba, the NHC said.
"Paloma is a Category Two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale," an NHC bulletin said. "Further strengthening is likely and Paloma could become a Category Three hurricane tonight or early tomorrow."
