China investigating freighter that hit fishermen

 AP - Sunday, March 15
BEIJING - China is investigating a Panama-registered freighter after it collided with a Chinese boat that then sank, leaving eight fishermen missing, the official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.

The freighter Southern Wallaby arrived in the coastal port city of Ningbo on Saturday afternoon, Xinhua said, adding that the incident occurred at 1 a.m. Friday off China's east coast.
Rescuers are still searching for the missing, the report said, adding there was no damage to the freighter. It belongs to Japan's Tatsumi Marine Co. and had been heading to Rizhao Port in Shandong from Singapore. Twenty seamen, most from the Philippines, were aboard, and all are in good condition, Xinhua said.
