LOS ANGELES - Kanye West is "painting" a new picture on MTV on Thursday, debuting a video he hopes will offer fans a better image of himself than the one he made at the network's award show last year when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. "It's not a video...it's a painting," the rapper said of his new video, called "Power", airing Thursday night.
Avenged Sevenfold earns first No. 1 on album chart
LOS ANGELES - Rock band Avenged Sevenfold scored its first No. 1 album on the U.S. pop chart on Wednesday, ending the five-week reign of Eminem. The band's "Nightmare" sold a better-than-expected 162,500 copies during the week ended August 1, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Eminem's "Recovery" followed with 159,000, taking its total to 1.8 million.
Wyclef Jean set to announce Haitian presidency run
WASHINGTON - Hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean will announce his bid for president of earthquake-ravaged Haiti this week, Time magazine has reported. Haiti, which was hit January 12 by a deadly 7.0-magnitude earthquake, is scheduled to vote on November 28 to elect a new leader to replace President Rene Preval, whose term ends in February.

But on Tuesday, Bullock landed atop Hollywood's heap again when financial website Forbes.com named her the highest paid actress of the past 12 months having earned $56 million from two box office hits, romantic comedy "The Proposal" and football film, "The Blind Side."
Justin Bieber to play himself in 3D movie
NEW YORK - Justin Bieber will make his big-screen debut in time for next Valentine's Day. Paramount Pictures confirmed Tuesday that it will release a 3D biopic about the Canadian teen idol's life on February 11.
Charlie Sheen pleads guilty to assault
ASPEN, Colorado - Actor Charlie Sheen pleaded guilty on Monday to assaulting his wife last Christmas and was sentenced to 30 days in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation in California. Under a plea deal reached with prosecutors in Aspen, Sheen also agreed to three months probation in which he cannot consume any drugs, other than prescription medication, and cannot drink an excessive amount of alcohol. He also was ordered to attend 36 hours of anger management classes.
