ShareThis May 19, 2010 3:17 p.m. EST Topics: music, arts, culture and entertainment, United States Anthony Jones - AHN Entertainment Reporter Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) - The Essence Music Festival is celebrating yet another year of African-American music and culture with a line-up some of the biggest recording artists in the industry like Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Mary J. Blige. Last year, the festival celebrated its 15th anniversary. To commemorate the event, the Essence Music Festival is releasing a live CD/DVD of last year’s festival, featuring performances by Beyonce, Ne-Yo, and more. Music World Entertainment, headed by Matthew Knowles, is compiling the CD and special DVD/CD package titled “The 15th Anniversary of the Essence Music Festival,” set for release on June 15th. The set will feature live recordings and performances from the 2009 Essence Music Festival, which drew a record-breaking 428,000 attendees. The set features Beyonce performing her hit “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It), En Vogue performing “My Lovin (You’re Never Gonna Get It)," Ne-Yo performing “Closer,” Salt ‘n Pepa performing “Whatta Man,” and more. Robin Thicke, John Legend, Charlie Wilson and others are also featured on the 10-track disc, while the DVD contains 9 performances. The Essence Music Festival is the biggest African-American music festival in the country. This year’s festival takes place July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in New Orleans. Joining headliners Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Mary J.
