"Well, our economic system is in a crisis right now," Lovato, 16, said Friday in an interview. "I definitely hope that that will change. Also ... I hope that the war resolves. Whether we win or lose or whatever, it doesn't matter. I hope that it just ends. So you know, I think that Barack Obama will be able to help us." Lovato is among the performers scheduled to play at a pre-inauguration concert Monday night in downtown Washington for military families. Set to air on the Disney Channel, it will also feature Bow Wow and fellow Disney stars the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. Lovato, originally from Texas, said outside the Television Critics Association gathering that she hopes the president-elect himself will be tuning in. "That will be the coolest thing, if Obama was watching," she said, laughing. "I think his family will be there. It would be even cooler if they were all there. But definitely, it's an honor that they even know who I am. It's awesome." Lovato said she's happy to talk with Obama's daughters Sasha and Malia about adjusting to life in the spotlight at such a young age. "I would give them definitely the advice to always know that your family is there for you. You can go to your family with anything," she said. "And also, don't forget who you are. I think that's a mistake that a lot of people make. And it's something that my family keeps me from making." And finally: "Just don't stop going places just because people might see you. And don't stop having sleepovers with your friends, and don't stop trick-or-treating."
