Las Vegas, NV, United States (CNS) - Rock band The Killers are assuring fans that they are not disbanding. The group, led by vocalist Brandon Flowers, said that while it is true they have canceled the Australian leg of their tour, they are not going away for good.
Rumors abound that the rockers - Flowers, Dave Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass guitar), and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums) - will disband after Keuning was reportedly quoted as saying their gigs in Australia would be their last shows "for a while."
The reports got stronger when The Killers announced they are abandoning their Australian show.
They explained on their website: "The Killers had hoped that the Australian leg of their current tour would be completed as planned, but due to the severity of the illness of a close family member, they regretfully announce the cancellation of their Sydney Enmore show as well as their shows at Good Vibrations Festival Sydney and Good Vibrations Festival Perth this weekend."
"The band apologizes to their Australian fans and asks for their understanding."
They also assured fans that "any concerns about the future of the band are unfounded. They are all looking forward to some time off at the end of this tour as they have been on the road for a long time, but there are no plans for an indefinite hiatus."
They still plan to perform at the Good Vibrations Festival's Gold Coast and Melbourne shows next weekend. Tickets for the Enmore Theater will be refunded.
