ABU DHABI - The United Arab Emirates is "very optimistic" about reaching an agreement in a dispute with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion <RIM.TO> <RIMM.O> before an official deadline, a top Abu Dhabi official said. Apple iPhone 4 in short supply for China launch: report
NEW YORK - China Unicom <0762.HK> did not have enough supply of Apple Inc's <AAPL.O> iPhone 4 during its launch weekend for the phone, according to a Wall Street Journal Story. Citing the Chinese telecom operator, the story said that China Unicom had received more than 200,000 pre-orders for the phone by early Saturday, when the phone went on sale.
"The Social Network" opens in NY to buzz, controversy
NEW YORK - Billed as an exhilarating, visceral tale about the founding of Facebook, "The Social Network" gave the opening of the New York Film Festival on Friday an aura of anticipation and a touch of controversy. The film has attracted widespread attention with its assertion that it tells the true story of the birth of the website -- which now boasts more than 500 million members and is worth tens of billions. Yet, it is based on a book criticized for its reporting methods.

WASHINGTON - Google, Apple, Adobe Systems, Intel, Intuit and Disney's <DIS.N> Pixar reached a settlement with the Justice Department that bars the companies from agreeing to not poach each other's top employees, the department said on Friday. The firms had reached a series of agreements with each other -- Apple <AAPL.O> had deals with Google <GOOG.O>, Adobe <ADBE.O> and Pixar while Google had separate deals with Intel <INTC.O> and Intuit <INTU.O> -- agreeing not to cold call each others' workers, the department said.
Facebook's Zuckerberg gives $100 million to Newark
NEW YORK - Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced a $100 million gift to the beleaguered public schools of Newark, New Jersey, to help improve public education in a city he has no connection to. The billionaire announced the grant on Friday on the Oprah Winfrey television show. He denied suggestions the timing was aimed at deflecting attention from a movie that depicts the 26-year-old in an unflattering light.
EU to drop Apple probes after firm's policy changes
BRUSSELS - EU antitrust regulators will scrap two investigations into Apple Inc's <AAPL.O> iPhone after the company allowed cross-border repair services and eased restrictions on applications for its popular smartphone. The European Commission, the watchdog across the 27-country European Union, announced its decision on Saturday, saying the changes by Apple would allow consumers to choose between different alternatives.

Cyber attack appears to target Iran: tech firms
LONDON - A computer virus that attacks a widely used industrial system appears aimed mostly at Iran and its sophistication suggests a state may have been involved in creating it, Western cyber security companies said on Friday. Kevin Hogan, Senior Director of Security Response at Symantec <SYMC.O>, told Reuters 60 percent of the computers worldwide infected by the so-called Stuxnet worm were in Iran, indicating industrial plants in that country were the target.
