ShareThis March 27, 2010 7:11 a.m. EST Topics: addiction, human interest, social issue, offbeat, curiosity, crime, law and justice, organized crime, World Windsor Genova - AHN News News Writer Mexico City, Mexico (AHN) - Mexican police on Thursday announced the arrest of a drug smuggler dubbed the “King of Heroin,” who slipped 440 pounds of heroin into the U.S. every month. Jose Antonio Medina, 36, was arrested Wednesday in the western state of Michoacan. He had been wanted by U.S. authorities for drug trafficking since last year and his extradition was being sought. Mexican officials said Medina’s group had smuggled $12 million worth of heroin from Tijuana to Los Angeles every month since 2007 using vehicles with secret compartments.
