Salesforce sues Microsoft as legal feud escalates
BOSTON - Salesforce.com Inc <CRM.N> is suing Microsoft Corp <MSFT.O> for alleged patent violations, the latest development in a legal battle that began last month when Microsoft accused Salesforce of stealing its intellectual property. The world's biggest maker of Web-based software charged that Microsoft is infringing five Salesforce patents in programs, including in the Windows Server operating system and the widely used .Net platform.
ATM security flaws could be a jackpot for hackers
BOSTON - A security expert has identified flaws in the design of some automated teller machines that make them vulnerable to hackers, who could make the ubiquitous cash dispensers spit out their cash holdings. Barnaby Jack, head of research at Seattle-based, security firm IOActive Labs, will demonstrate methods for "jackpotting" ATMs at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas that starts on July 28.
Pakistan to monitor Google, others for blasphemy

The Ministry of Information Technology is also blocking at least 17 links on Youtube and other websites for showing "blasphemous material."
Fans scramble for Apple's iPhone upgrade
NEW YORK/PARIS/TOKYO - Apple <AAPL.O> fans lined up overnight by the hundreds outside stores in the United States, Europe and Japan to snap up the latest iPhone, setting a new benchmark in the fast-growing smartphone market. It sold a record 600,000 in pre-orders in a single day last week and analysts expect upwards of a million sold in 24 hours: a record for a consumer electronics company and easily outstripping the pace of the last iPhone.
Suicide-hit Foxconn hands over staff dormitories
TAIPEI - Electronics maker Foxconn Technologies <2038.HK>, under fire for its working practices after a string of worker suicides, will sign over management of staff dormitories at its complexes in Shenzhen, southern China, to other companies, it said on Friday. Ten suicides this year at the sprawling manufacturing base has brought intense scrutiny of Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd <2317.TW>, the owner of Foxconn, which makes the iPhone and other products for Apple <AAPL.O> and also counts Dell <DELL.O> and Hewlett-Packard <HPQ.N> among its clients.
YouTube, now with instant vuvuzela sound
JOHANNESBURG - Want to hear what your favorite pop star or politician sounds like accompanied by the most memorable sound of the soccer World Cup in South Africa -- the droning vuvuzela trumpet? Try YouTube. The popular video-sharing website has added a vuvuzela button -- in the form of a soccer ball -- on its latest video player, allowing the sound of the vuvuzela to play alongside the video being watched.
Verizon and Motorola to battle iPhone with Droid X
NEW YORK - Verizon Wireless plans to start selling Droid X next month, launching the latest phone from Motorola Inc <MOT.N> based on Google Inc's <GOOG.O> Android software. The move comes as the three companies try to keep pace in the intensely competitive smartphone market, which this week will see Apple Inc <AAPL.O> roll out its much anticipated iPhone 4 on five continents.
Internet bosses set to approve .xxx for porn sites
