SEOUL, Aug 11 - As of 0030 GMT, the main KOSPI <.KS11> was down 0.74 percent at 1,767.90 points. The index opened down 0.3 percent at 1,775.34 points.
Stocks on the move on Wednesday include:
**HYNIX DOWN ON WEAK PC GROWTH OUTLOOK**
Hynix Semiconductor <000660.KS>, the world's No.2 computer memory chip maker, dropped 4 percent after Intel Corp <INTC.O> and Advanced Micro Devices Inc <AMD.N> sank on Tuesday, hit by concerns of weaker-than-expected PC sales in the current quarter.
Chip inventories are on the rise due to subdued demand growth globally amid signs of weak economic recovery, forcing Barclays and Robert W. Baird to downgrade their ratings on the world's top chipmaker Intel. [ID:nSGE6790IQ]
"Our checks showed order books for Taiwan notebook PC makers, which are a global benchmark for notebook sales, dropped 20 percent in July from June," said Greg Noh, an analyst at HMC Securities.
"On top of overall demand weakness, consumers' switch to tablet PCs is putting further pressure on notebook sales and DRAM chip demand, as tablets usually require less DRAM chips."
Hynix, the most heavily traded stock on the main bourse, fell 4.4 percent.
