MOSCOW (Reuters) - The head of a parliamentary foreign affairs committee was quoted on Friday as saying that sanctions on Iran being discussed by world powers would not stop Russia from delivering S-300 surface to air missiles to Tehran.

			World  |  Russia
Israel and the United States have asked Russia not to fulfill its contract to deliver the S-300s, which could undermine any air attack on Iranian facilities. Diplomats say Moscow is keen to keep the order as a bargaining chip with Tehran.
Asked if sanctions would block delivery of the S-300s, Mikhail Margelov, head of the Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, said: "The draft will not hit current contracts between Russia and Iran," Interfax news agency said.
"It should be remembered that Russia is a responsible seller of its products on foreign markets and we are not interested in the militarization of the Middle East."
Russia is one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council who have approved a draft resolution on a new set of sanctions against Iran that Washington circulated at the United Nations on Tuesday.
Diplomats at the United Nations this week said that the sanctions under discussion might block the S-300 sale.
Washington has spent much diplomatic effort in persuading Russia and China, also a permanent Security Council member, to back sanctions and a tougher line on Tehran. Both want to maintain trade relations with Iran, a major energy producer.
Western officials are also concerned by a Russian-Iranian project to build Iran's first nuclear power station at Bushehr. A Russian official on Tuesday said the plant's long-delayed first reactor would begin operating in August.

i did not vote for a third term of bush, cheney and rice..there is no difference with obama, biden and clinton towards our policies in the middle east..a repeat of iraq before we invaded–afganistan.iraq and now iran has been nothing but..for israel..i don’t see us pressing israel to disclose their 200 plus nuke warheads..to sign the npt..to join the iaea..this policy is against the national intrest of america and the americian people..

Well if Russia wants to go on with their S-300 sale, America may want to put up that missile shield in Poland or wait no Obama already killed that plan didnt he. Nothing like bending over backwards or bowing to your enemy always seems to make the grade.

The Russians need to stop dithering and get those missiles to Iran ASAP. They made the deal and they should keep their word. Besides, the Iranians really need those SAM’s to deter the Israelis from attacking them.

Its hard for me to understand why is ok for the U.S. to sell arms to Israel like cluster bombs, phosphorous bombs etc., but its not ok for Russia to sell arms to Iran for self defense, in fact Obama is asking the american taxpayers to come up with money to build Israel a new defense system

Just as the European missile shield was abandoned because it is a folly, the S300 missile system is no missile defense shield for Iran. It could be argued that Russia has joined the pantheon of weapon proliferators, such as North Korea., but the S300 system will be shown up for the expensive folly, that it is.

How come we never hear any articles about how many MILITARY BILLIONS of dollars are given for free to Israel every year by the US, or there is never any headlines about the hundreds of nuclear missiles that Israel have, how come we never have any big headlines about the israelies and what they are doing to the palestinian men, women and children. Don`t know !, well I`ll tell you why.
The US press is so biased and so S#*t scared of upsetting their own government or one of the many secret agencies operating there.
American people are great and it is an awful pity that you all get tarred with the same foreign policy brush that your government wield.
Good for you Russia for doing a deal and making a few bucks, good for you Iran for wanting to protect your citizens.
Bad for you US for continuing your ignorance of the fundamental causes of the trouble in the middle east.

The article says S-300, but they mean S-400 which is capable of shooting down our level 5 stuff. What even makes people think they dont already have them in place and operational.
Isreal is the creation of America. Everything they have we gave them in one way or another. Even now we have 1.5 trillion dollars of hardware spreaded over the area in defense of isreal. Isreal said they would use it if necessary.
If Iran continues to Enrich, they stand the risk of a hit. They are trying to rewrite the rules without following any procedure. Basicaly go back on there agreement, npt.
That incident would not be good for USA. There isnt much doubt that russia has nuclear bombers on our side of the Globe. Alot of craziness in the hands of crazy’s

The poster above is correct. Obama is continuing Bush’s policies towards the mid east that are pro Israel and continuing the past US dooms day foreign policy, based on the false notion chosen people biblical rush to destruction, that in the end work against long term security of the United States.
But because of media intimidation this is not being told to the American people. The director of national intelligence Blair left only because he could not keep his mouth shut about this corrupt continuing self destruct US policy.
This article about Russian missiles is just anther attempt at fear mongering.
