David Goodhue - AHN News Reporter
Chicago, IL, United States (AHN) - Flight attendants working on a plane traveling from Vancouver to Jacksonville, Fla. left a blind woman locked on the plane after the craft made a scheduled stop at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
The incident happened April 7, but the airline finally apologized and gave the woman a $250 voucher for another airline ticket.
The United Airlines flight crew told 18-year-old Jessica Cabot, of Courtenay, B.C., to wait until everyone left the plane. They were supposed to then get her and escort her to her connecting flight.
She told the Canadian Broadcasting Company that she did wait for everyone to leave the plane, but then she heard the door shut. After 10 minutes of trying to open the door, a maintenance crew entered the plane.
She ended up making her connecting flight to Jacksonville, where she was flying to meet with her fiancé. She told the Vancouver Sun that she was satisfied with the apology.
