Credit: Reuters/Charles Platiau BOSTON (Reuters) - Salesforce.com Inc is suing Microsoft Corp for alleged patent violations, the latest development in a legal battle that began last month when Microsoft accused Salesforce of stealing its intellectual property. ipad  |  Technology The world's biggest maker of Web-based software charged that Microsoft is infringing five Salesforce patents in programs, including in the Windows Server operating system and the widely used .Net platform. "Microsoft's continuing acts of infringement have caused and are causing irreparable harm to Salesforce.com," the complaint said. Salesforce is seeking unspecified damages in the suit, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on Thursday. The battle began on May 18 when Microsoft sued Salesforce in federal court in Seattle, alleging its rival uses its technology in software menus, toolbars and graphical interface features. Microsoft Deputy Chief Counsel Horacio Gutierrez said in a statement that his company is now reviewing the lawsuit. "We remain confident in our position and will continue to press ahead with the complaint we initiated in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington," he said. The case is: Salesforce.com Inc v Microsoft Corp, case number 1:10-cv-00555, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Here they are suing one another and as a longtime, forced user of MSOffice toolbars, I have to say they are the worst (Office 2003 on XP). I never feel like they are MY toolbars but under the control of some Marketing czar, popping up on a new ribbon whenever *someone* feels they should. Good luck, I hope you win (either side). shmoot Report As Abusive     Jun 25, 2010 3:37pm EDT mata a microsoft: the sociopath side of gates junior has, unfortunately, carved a (undeserved) place in the online and offline worlds, but the realworld is realizing the defects, and those m/s stole from are going to be suing until gates himself is deceased it seems. Of course throwing all that cash at splashy power attacks on the worlds great problems in health etc, all that has bought the silence, even the adoration, of those who should know better. Can’t wait to hear the details of the intellectual property behind this latest comeupance of billy Jr. waltinseattle Report As Abusive     Jun 25, 2010 5:53pm EDT When you build a company around the tenets of theft and deceit what do you expect? Gates built his empire on stolen code, lets hope it falls in litigation and the appropriate people getting justice; and dare I say IBM (now that actually hurt). anamericancynic Report As Abusive     Jun 26, 2010 1:28am EDT @anamericancynic — When you build a company around the tenets of theft and deceit what do you expect? Gates built his empire on stolen code” … Sounds pretty accurate to most software companies and countries (including the EU) around the world. MS is the SCUM of American business — if you can find a product of theirs that actually works!! gitagrip Report As Abusive     Jun 26, 2010 12:34pm EDT Well, gee wizz, guyzngals! In all the rants, not one mention of Steve Jobs or Apple, Inc. But I suppose it’s possible, (or probable) that had Jobs decided to license his OS the way Gates did, perhaps everybody would be mad at him! Unless someone has actual knowledge of the patents at issue, ‘twould be better to hold opinions ’til the facts appear in court. Even if you can’t stand the Microsoft Giant, judge every case by its merits in the long run, and go buy an Apple product in the short run. HandGunslinger Report As Abusive     Jun 26, 2010 12:37pm EDT Rule of acquisition № 10: Greed is Eternal. Emo Report As Abusive     Jun 26, 2010 1:28pm EDT so Obama has sized up his supporters and concluded they won’t figure out the banks will just pass on the increased taxes to us all as increased fees. That way, his supporters will visit web sites like this and trash “greedy” banks. They’ll never figure out these new bank taxes are nothing more than raising taxes on all of us. ….and the Obama supporters will love him for it. JustAGuy Report As Abusive     Jun 26, 2010 2:24pm EDT Please God, Please heal Dick Cheney, so that he can be prosecuted for the death of millions of Iraqi civilians, and go to prison where he belongs. Unchained Report As Abusive     Jun 26, 2010 4:29pm EDT If there were sufficient evidence to justify prosecuting Cheney, don`t you think he would have been charged by now? Why would he not have been? allankuzma36 Report As Abusive       See All Comments (9)       Add a Comment *We welcome comments that advance the story directly or with relevant tangential information.
