Slideshow: Full Photo Coverage: Internet Portals & Search Engines ORLANDO, Florida (AFP) - – Supporters and critics of Tiger Woods turned the golf superstar's website into their own forum Friday after the world's top golfer announced plans to take an indefinite break from the sport. One supporter reminded Woods that despite admitting "infidelity" and "personal sins" even as numerous women claim to have had intimate relations with the married star, there are still those who admire him. Woods said Friday in a statement he wants to focus on being a better husband, father and person. "What was done was very wrong. You broke a solemn vow to your wife and caused tremendous pain to your family," the writer said. "I believe you have learned your lesson. There must be tremendous pressure on you. Women must throw themselves at you. "To me, you will always be a role model and I still respect you as a player and a man. You are doing what you need to do to try and correct your mistakes and I respect you for that. "Some people... enjoy seeing someone who has had so much success in their lives stumble and fall right on their faces. Don't allow those people to bring you down Tiger. You still have plenty of people that admire you and love you. Keep your chin up and remain strong through this tough time and don't feel like you are alone. Let them hear the Tiger roar." But others objected, one saying, "Stop kissing the adulterer's hiny (sic) you jerks," and another saying "how sad and disappointing for your kids." One writer even asked to end the pain of having the drama play out on Tiger's own website, asking, "How much punishment can you stand?" "On your own website, people are just ripping you to shreds. Yeah, you totally deserve it, but not on your own website!" Another called it "one of the ultimate ironies of this whole bizarre incident." "Tiger isn't what we thought he was. And it is a HUGE disappointment. So instead of letting this chat room go on and on and on about what a hero or jerk he is, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Tiger, shut it down until you return to golf." Many fans simply let Woods, who turns 34 on December 30, know he will be missed until he returns. "Don't waste your precious time tiger," one commentator said. "You can concentrate on golf and family. It is not difficult. But please play golf. We want you. Change your mind soon. We miss you a lot Tiger." That philosophy was endorsed by another who sees the fans having to do without Woods as increasing the number of victims of Woods' indiscretions. "We are all diminished by not having champions like him on the links," one writer said. "What he does off the golf course is of no interest to me."
