Purchase, NY, United States (AHN) - MasterCard Worldwide announced that it has launched MoneySend, a program that allows customers to transfer money using their iPhone or iPad.

The program allows users to send or request funds for a wide variety of reasons, ranging from payments to service providers to informal requests from friends or family members.

“With MoneySend, users avoid the hassle of making payments with cash, check or money orders and collecting funds is as simple as a text message with the ‘Request Funds’ feature of the app," said CIO Joshua Peirez.

The service is available to U.S. customers via their iPhone through participating banks and credit unions. Customers also have the option of creating a prepaid account through Bancorp Bank.
