German bourse opens office in Beijing: statement
AFP - 1 hour 27 minutes ago
BEIJING (AFP) - - Deutsche Boerse, the operator of the German stock exchange, has opened a representative office in Beijing, the latest bourse to do so in a bid to attact Chinese initial public offerings.
Deutsche Boerse inaugurated the office in the Chinese capital on Friday, it said in a statement.
"Among other activities, Deutsche Boerse organises road shows and IPO conferences with the aim of promoting stock exchange listings for domestic Chinese companies," the statement said.
The move came despite a growing signs China's economy is being hit by the global financial crisis, including November export figures that declined for the first time in more than seven years.
"The opening under the global financial crisis shows our strong confidence in the Chinese market," Deutsche Boerse's deputy CEO Andreas Preuss said, according to China's state-run Xinhua news agency.
Towards the end of last year, both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq opened up Beijing offices.
