Training centre set up to meet demand for pre—school education professionals
Channel NewsAsia - 41 minutes ago
SINGAPORE: To meet the demand for pre—school education professionals in the next five years, a Centre for Continuing Education and Training has been appointed for the sector by the Workforce Development Agency.
This announcement was made at a graduation ceremony of the Regional Training and Resource Centre (RTRC) in Early Childhood Care and Education for Asia on Saturday.
This means RTRC will be rolling out various programmes to train more than 1,500 individuals including mid—career professionals over the next three years.
Those looking for a career switch can get support in the form of course fee grant, absentee payroll, training allowance and job placements once they have completed their studies at the centre.
Acting Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong, said: "Today we have some 750 childcare centres and 480 kindergartens. Over the next five years, another 200 centres are expected to open. This will provide many job opportunities in the education sector." — CNA/vm
