Recent Indonesian maritime disasters:
_ January 11, 2009: A ferry carrying more than 260 passengers and crew sinks in a storm off the coast of Sulawesi island.
_ July 11, 2007: A passenger ship carrying 70 people disappears off eastern Indonesia after reporting engine failure in stormy seas.
_ Feb. 22, 2007: Fire on a ferry carrying 330 people kills 42. Three days later, the charred vessel capsizes as accident investigators and journalists inspect it, killing one.
_ Dec. 29, 2006: A crowded Indonesian ferry breaks apart and sinks in the Java Sea during a violent storm, killing more than 400 people.
_ June 22, 2006: A ferry carrying 116 people capsizes in bad weather off western Sumatra island, but rescue teams recover almost all of the passengers.
_ April 18, 2006: A ferry carrying 60 people sinks in bad weather in eastern Indonesia, but nearly all are rescued or swim to shore.
