Their salary increments ranged from between S$167 and S$208. To help more workers attend skills training courses, the criteria for its Skills Training Award has been revised. From January, families with a monthly household income of S$2,500 or a per capita income of S$650 will qualify for the scheme. Previously, applicants under 35 had to have a monthly salary not exceeding S$1,500 or a household monthly income of over S$2,000. Those above 35 had to have a monthly household salary not exceeding S$2,500. Applicants will no longer be subject to age restrictions but they will have to be Chinese Singaporeans or Permanent Residents who have attained GCE ’O’ Levels or lower. The CDAC said it will be pumping in S$300,000 more into next year’s budget to help fund the changes. They hope it will give 30 per cent more workers the opportunity to have 95 per cent of their training subsidised. — CNA/ms Email Story IM Story Printable View Blog This Recommend this article Average (0 votes) Sign in to recommend this article » Most Recommended Stories » Related Articles: Singapore Public transport fares among issues raised at MacPherson dialogue sessionChannel NewsAsia - 1 hour 55 minutes ago Retailers say no significant drop in sales this year—end seasonChannel NewsAsia - Monday, December 22 Underprivileged children go on sponsored shopping tripChannel NewsAsia - Monday, December 22 ASEAN summit in late February may be rescheduled: reportAFP - Sunday, December 21 "Mandatory Give Way to Buses" scheme takes effect at 26 bus stopsChannel NewsAsia - Sunday, December 21 Enlarge Photo CDAC revises eligibility criteria for Skills Training programme Most Popular – Singapore Viewed Global economy seen sinking into 'severe' 2009 recession: report Actress Jennifer Aniston appears naked in GQ magazine Oil prices mixed; New York contract expires below 34 dollars Let poor eat caviar: Milan authorities German Christmas cake theft sparks data scare View Complete List » Search: Home Singapore Asia Pacific World Business Entertainment Sports Technology Top Stories Most Popular CDAC revises eligibility criteria for Skills Training programme - Yahoo!
