MAS stops 3 insurance brokers from conducting new transactions
Channel NewsAsia - 55 minutes ago
SINGAPORE: The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced on Monday that three insurance brokers have been stopped from providing financial advisory services here.
They are Acclaim Insurance Brokers, Leadenhall Insurance Brokers and Magnetron Insurance & Financial Services.
The three parties had been exempted from the need to hold a financial advisers licence, but the exemption has since been withdrawn.
According to the MAS, inspections of the three firms this year showed that they had contravened the Financial Advisers Act.
It also said that the firms did not have adequate management oversight, control policies and procedures for their financial advisory operations.
This includes their monitoring of representatives, introducers, complaints investigations and resolution processes.
The three firms are required to inform their clients that they can no longer provide financial advisory services.
They have also been instructed to ensure that outstanding order instructions, applications and funds received from clients are forwarded to relevant parties.
