Police: 13 killed in Iraqi jailbreak
AP - 2 hours 36 minutes ago
BAGHDAD - Iraqi police say six officers and seven imprisoned insurgents have been killed in a riot and jailbreak in the city of Ramadi.
Maj. Gen. Tariq Yousif, the police chief of Anbar province, says four prisoners escaped in the bloody chaos that broke out early Friday morning.
According to Yousif, a prisoner held in a cell with 11 others asked a guard to allow him to go to the bathroom. When the guard opened the cell door, the prisoners pulled him in, grabbed his assault rifle and killed him, then attacked other police.
The police chief said the prisoners involved were all suspected insurgents of al-Qaida in Iraq.
