RPT-Pakistan receives $200 million from IDB
Reuters - 1 hour 12 minutes ago
KARACHI, Nov 13 - Pakistan central bank said on Thursday it has received $200 million from the Islamic Development Bank as the country's reserves are barely enough to cover nine weeks of imports.
The central bank did not give any other details.
Pakistan foreign exchange reserves fell $160 million to $6.76 billion in the week that ended on Nov. 1, with the State Bank of Pakistan's own reserves just at $3.53 billion.
The country's top economic adviser, Shaukat Tarin said last month that he expected multilateral lenders -- the World Bank and Asian Development Bank -- to front-load disbursements from development assistance programmes.
The Islamic Development Bank and Britain's Department for International Development were also expected to boost their planned assistance, he said.
