Report: Macau leader's relative wanted by Interpol
AP - Monday, January 19
HONG KONG - A man related to Macau's chief executive by marriage is on Interpol's wanted list in connection with the southern Chinese gambling enclave's biggest corruption case, a Hong Kong newspaper reported Sunday.
The international police group's Web site listed Macau-born Chan Lin Ian and Lam Man I as wanted suspects in connection with allegations of money laundering. The Web site did not give further details.
The two are married, and Chan _ whose sister is married to Macau leader Edmund Ho's brother _ allegedly bribed the former transport and public works secretary, Ao Man Long, to receive three construction contracts, the Sunday Morning Post reported.
Macau government information officer Elena Au wouldn't confirm Chan's relationship with Ho and said she had no immediate comment.
Ao, who was sentenced to 27 years in jail in January 2008, was accused of taking bribes in return for construction contracts for casinos that Las Vegas operators were building in Macau.
The three projects Chan allegedly bribed Ao for were not casino projects, the Post said.
