PIONEER INVESTMENTS <CRDI.MI>
The investment firm owned by Italy's UniCredit Banking Group hired Bill Taylor, formerly president, managed assets and head of national broker dealer at Evergreen Investments, as senior vice president and head of relationship management and strategic alliances group in the United States. He reports to Joseph Kringdon, head of U.S. retail distribution and president of Pioneer Funds Distributor Inc.
BAKER & HOSTETLER LLP
The law firm said Irving Picard, the court-appointed trustee in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, had joined the firm's New York City office.
FBR CAPITAL MARKETS CORP <FBCM.O>
The brokerage and investment bank said the company's founder, chairman and chief executive, Eric Billings, will retire as chief executive effective Jan. 1, 2009. Replacing him as CEO will be Richard Hendrix, 43, currently president and chief operating officer.
HALCYON ASSET MANAGEMENT
The asset management group named Manish Mital, a former enforcement attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission who first joined it as general counsel in January 2007, as a managing principal. In addition, Suzanne McDermott, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York who joined the company in May 2008, was promoted to chief compliance officer and associate general counsel.
UK FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS LTD
The company set up to manage the British government's investments in financial institutions named Tim Sykes, currently UK banks analyst at Execution Limited, as senior banks analyst.

The law firm named Frederick Pettit, previously an assistant district attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney's office, as a shareholder in the firm's Philadelphia office. Pettit, 34, is focused on insurance coverage and employment practice.
SONNENSCHEIN NATH & ROSENTHAL LLP
The law firm hired 100 lawyers from rival law firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP, including 40 partners, increasing its head count to about 800 attorneys and other professionals.
STANDARD CHARTERED PLC <STAN.L>
Standard Chartered Bank Ltd appointed Owen Belman, current head of consumer banking, as group head of strategy consumer banking. Belman will be based in Singapore and starts in his new role in January.
The bank also named Mary Huen, current general manager, customer experience, as head of consumer banking.
HISCOX <HSX.L>
